The 7 best Twitch VOD downloaders in 2026
Full disclosure: this list is written by the recordcloud.bot team, and we put ourselves first. We still tried to be fair about what each tool does well.
1. recordcloud.bot (cloud, automatic)
Records the live stream automatically, works for VOD-disabled and sub-only channels, MP4 output with thumbnails and a player. Free trial, then from $19.95 per month.

2. yt-dlp (CLI, free)
The most capable downloader for existing VODs. Command line only; no live detection.
3. Streamlink (CLI, free)
Best for piping a live stream to disk when you know it started. Scriptable.
4. Twitch Leecher (Windows, unmaintained)
Nice GUI for VODs, but no longer updated and cannot record live.
5. TwitchDownloader (GUI + CLI)
Downloads VODs, clips and chat. Runs on your machine.
6. 4K Video Downloader (desktop)
Paid desktop app for finished videos; good UI, no live recording.
7. OBS / screen recording
Works for anything but re-encodes, needs your PC on and full attention.
